anybody sleep on a Tempurpedic mattress?
Edited on Fri Feb-16-07 01:08 PM by npincus
I'm dying for one... I have chronic back pain and wake up with pain every day. However, they are frigging expensive, out of my budget.

Does anyone out there have one, and how would you compare it to a conventional mattress.

2. No, but I got a memory foam mattress topper and it is HEAVEN!
I have chronic low back pain and this mattress topper has almost eliminated it! And this is on a crappy coil mattress. I absolutely love it. And I got it at Target for $60 and it wasn't even the high-end one - it was the 1 1/4 inch, not the 2 inch.

Do yourself a favor and get one of these TODAY - even just to tide you over.

15. You can also go to overstock.com
They have the memory foam mattress pads in various thicknesses.

I have a king size bed that's gotten old and somewhat saggy, and it's helped a lot!!

Also, the pillows that come with it have a rounded edge at top and bottom, that are two different sizes, so you can choose the neck support you need. That's very important to me.
I was using a separate buckwheat pillow to keep my neck straight. Now I don't have to.

Good luck!!

6. Well, I have the Posturpeadic (the Sealy version) and it cured my hip pain issues in one week.
Amazing. I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER buy a spring mattress again. It's improved my life that much.

7. I've had one for about six years...
and I will always have it or another one. For me, it beats the pants off of springs.

8. wow- they have a bunch of different models now...
each progressively more expensive than the one before. I would think the "original"- without all the bells and whistles- is just as good as the rest.

10. They give us backaches
There's a lovely little bed and breakfast in Pittsburgh that we love except that they have those mattresses. The place is so proud of their fancy foam mattresses that they even brag about them in their brochure. But every time we've stayed there both of us have woken up with backaches.

11. My brother has one, and I've slept on it a few times

They were honestly the most restful night's sleep that I've ever had. There are viable alternatives to the Tempurpedic mattresses. Costco sells a number of Novaform mattresses which have also gotten good reviews. They have a queen-sized version in the store for only $500, and an up-level version on their website for $899 - both significantly less than a base Tempurpedic.

Edited to add: I'll be getting one next month, not sure if I'll get the base model at the brick-and-mortar store or the better one from their online store.

13. I've tried the full mattress and a mattress topper...
The topper is 3" and comfy

The full mattress feels like quicksand.

17. Queen size
memory foam mattresses are sold at Costco for a lot less.

I have a 3 inch topper on my bed and I like it. Would like to get a full mattress but the King Size ones are just outrageously expensive. Maybe after I win the lottery.

I really like the pillow, too. I think it's made a big difference on my neck problems.

Edited on Sat Feb-17-07 11:47 AM by QuestionAll
we used to have two of the memory-foam mattress toppers- but there is absolutely no comparison.
this is absolutely the best, most comfortable bed i have EVER slept in.

btw- we got a terrific deal by buying it on ebay...and it was still brand new.
