Hey, anyone else see the new 'Bridge to Terabithia'? I saw it with my sister today...
Was familiar with the book, and contemplating doing the book with my reading group at school...saw this movie, it was actually really good...but I'm ashamed to say that I cried at the end. Oh man, I tried not to, but I couldn't help it. If I think about it too much, I'll start crying again...dammit...
So anyone else see it and think I'm a total wimp?

1. Does that mean they didn't change the ending?
Because my kids and I were certain they'd change the ending.

2. Change it how? To make it happier?
Oh lord no...it's still the same. If they changed THAT, it would've destroyed the entire point of the story. Of course, not that that's stopped people before...but I'm glad that they didn't.
I mean, it's not THAT that got to me.
Just a scene towards the end between Jesse and his little sister. I made it through everything else okay, but THAT was what got me bawling. I guess it's a big brother thing, lol.

3. Yeah, happier
I'm glad they didn't. Agree that it would have destroyed the story but, as you said, that's never stopped movie makers before. How was the movie besides that? Knowing that they didn't mess with it makes me more willing to give it a shot.

4. It was very good, in my opinion.
They flesh out a lot of the imagination stuff, bringing it to life, which is kind of cool...i guess it's a matter of opinion whether you'd like that or not...
it's very well-acted, and very emotional, and the ending has quite a bit of impact.
it's not in the least sugar-coated, but it is definitely worth it.
at least, that's how i felt.
you'll probably cry, though. :P

5. We thought about taking our grandson, age 6, but it sounds very sad.
This is what we'll probably do instead:

6. It might be too sad for him, yeah.
I mean...it does teach some good lessons...it'd be great maybe when he's a little older.
I think the Train show might be a better idea :)
