Just found this while looking for REAL stand-up comedians -- I have to admit, he's pulled off the act pretty well. I doubt his audience realizes it, though.

2. I'm probably the only one on DU that

actually thinks he's funny. After seeing this, I have even more respect for him, because he's got that act nailed down to a T.

Seeing this makes me wonder if the right wing politics might be an act as well! The real Dan Whitney could be a liberal doing an impersonation of a right wing conservative, sort of like what Stephen Colbert does.

4. Oh, that's totally an act

One of the funniest pieces I've ever seen him do was when he was teaching an elementary school class, and he starts going off about how the Easter Bunny is a communist and Santa Claus is in a coma. It was a total slap at freepers, and I literally laughed for probably ten minutes straight.

Is that really why DU'ers hate him? They thought he was being serious? I had no idea. Seriously. No, I'm quite convinced he's no freeper.

I know a lot of ppl who like him for just that reason.
If you've watched him in the Blue Collar movies; he comes off as having those opinions for real.
You can tell when he's being a bit over-the-line. I think some here are irritated that he is using the repuke talking points to make money. I believe they feel that he should just be honest and make the money without resorting to pandering to the audience's predjudices.
I am witholding judgement; it's not for me to say.

Have you heard about the feud between him and David Cross? Pretty interesting stuff.

6. No, I hadn't heard of that

but I just read an article on wikipedia about it after you mentioned it. Hmm...it is interesting stuff. I don't like anti-gay humor, even when it's just done for laughs, and David Cross is somebody who's opinion I respect. I really don't know what to make of it. I always took Larry's act as a stab against freepers and that type of mentality. It appears that not everyone agrees. Hmm.
