Can you tell what a pathetic life I have? This is what excites me! But I have to tell you...I've never seen anything like this vacuum. I can't believe how much crud was hiding in my house! UGH!

I was in heaven when I first used it. Scary how much dirt you get to pick up with it.

3. I have one and really like it. When I first got it the cat walked up to it and
hissed at it. They are a bit unusual looking, I guess. Nothing like the old Electrolux I had for a zillion years.

12. Like regular vacs.
Everytime I see their ad, I wonder how the hell they work that is so revolutionary. So, do they still suck up dirt, or do they run by some miracle?

and great features. Practically self propelled too. I love that it's not blowing dust all over the house.

20. Be prepared to spend! They start at $379 for the basic model
(just checked at Target), and more for the "deluxe" models...

http://www.target.com/gp/search.html/ref=sr_bx_1/602-8068353-9389446?field-keywords=dyson&url=index%3Dtarget&x=0&y=0

I thought about one last year, and ended up getting a Bissell model for just $100, that totally kicked the ass of a Dirt Devil that was no more than 5 years old. I can't imagine the Dyson being THAT much more powerful, but lots of people seem to really swear by them!

36. Read the fine print on the coupon
It was either Linens and Things or BB&B that didn't allow the discout to be used on their Dysons.
Again, read the fine print on the coupon.

39. Oh yea, they suck mightily.

The guy who designed them used to design jet engines. That should give you an idea of just how much they suck. Also, they do not lose suckage over time, or as they fill up during use, as other vacs do. UNfreakin'believable, the stuff they pick up that other vacs miss.

Also, no bags to buy and replace, and extremely user friendly. Great attachments.

I LOVE mine. Well worth the investment.

11. I'm not really sure!
Very strong suction for one thing. I just vacuumed with my old vacuum two days ago. I went over the floors with the Dyson and had to empty the canister about 20 times.
I was horrified! :)

21. Amazing, isn't it? You can vacuum a floor that looks clean, glance
down at the canister and see all kinds of stuff swirling around in it.

23. I have an area rug
about 8X10. Decent quality. I pushed the vacuum forward and back two times (about a 2X2 area) and the canister was full! I think if I vacuum that rug about 20 times, it'll disappear!

He has carpeting in his apartment. I do understand that they're terrific vacs, and I do like the technology they use.

Fluid dymanics is a complicated science, and the guy who invented them made a real breakthrough in that field.

19. A breakthrough that Hoover and the rest....
...have been trying to steal for years. Dyson spends half his time suing the big vac makers to stop them from copying the cyclone technology he invented. He has to do this all over the world, because Hoover in particular just shifts their operation to a new country whenever they get caught.

Dyson counterrotating washing machines are pretty great too. I don't know if you can get them in the States yet, though.

Dyson is crap. Get a Miele. German engineered and of obvious superior quality. I have mostly Miele appliances in my home (dishwasher, laundry washer, dryer, microwave, gas hob, gas oven, etc....)

The best made appliances in the world. MIELE. (and no, i don't work for miele)

I thought the Dyson was expensive! A Miele would run about $800 to $1,000.

That'll be my next vacuum! :)

I have Miele central vac system that was EUR 2500 without installation charges. Worth every penny. Do you realise how much a Miele vac sucks?

It worked great for the first 6 months or so, but has stopped sucking. We're back to using our Oreck while we figure out what to do with the Dyson.

On edit - thanks for the Miele link. I'm going to look into it. :hi:

30. Where I work I sell Dysons , so that I'm asking these question?
(I also own one and have had no trouble with it.) How long have you owned it? There should be a two to five year warranty on it. Check with the store you bought it, you may be able to return it there. My store honors all warranties. Also call Dyson, in my experience it is a company that is descent when it comes to working with their customers.

You may have aready done all of this, and if so I'm speacking out of place, sorry.

I love it - I had had bad luck with vacuum cleaners for years. They never lasted. The Dyson has been great for me.

(And yes, I did ask my wife to get one... and, she would not have an idea how to use it still, 14 months later)

37. I was vacuuming yesterday, and my husband said: "You're smiling!"
Yes, it's sort of pathetic how happy vacuuming makes me. There is nothing like sucking up cat hair, crumbs, coffee grounds, and stray popcorn kernels ...

Our vacuum is sort of so-so, but at least we mainly have hardwoods and tile and only a couple area rugs ...
