What is the strangest thing you’ve never eaten?
something that just about everyone else on the planet seems to have at least tried and most of them seem to like?

I know, I know...

3. Lox
I was introduced to bagels and cream cheese in the 1980's by some Jewish friends in Hollywood. But I have never had the chance to try bagels and lox.

35. Smoked salmon.
Not the dry, crumbly NW variety. Lox are moist, and sliced in very thin strips. I like mine on an onion bagel with a shmear of cream cheese, a bit of onion, capers, squeeze of lemon juice, and a dash of black peper. Breakfast of champions, Dude.

4. Frog intestines...
Chinese custom...eating them at New Year is apparently supposed to bring good luck (China counts for an awful lot of "almost everyone else in the world", at least population-wise)

I've never had frog innards either. I've had frog legs, but not frog innards.

37. I've never had that either
I had not heard of it until I came to Wisconsin and people would talk about it. I never tried it.
Another thing that I have never eaten is saurbraten (sp.?) that I have seen on some menus.

34. It's nothing against pumpkin pie.
My family only eats sweet potato pie instead of pumpkin pie and during the holidays we have so much food I never bother to buy pumpkin pie made in the store.

I find it amusing that I've tried some pretty "weird" things in my time, but nothing so "common" as pumpkin pie. :7

I can barely stand to look at it. I can't even begin to imagine eating it. Raw fish, wrapped in rice, wrapped in seaweed and then dipped into something so that you can't taste any of it?

Thanks but...nah.

I'm a simple gal...give me plain, regular, ordinary, BORING food.

:hi:

How've you been, hon? I haven't seen you in ages, either....

almost the whole month...

I am sorry I wasn't here for all of your pain but I had to retreat into myself for my own good...

Just so you know, you were in my thoughts a lot lately...

On a positive note, I am taking another Creative Writing Class....

It is strange, terrible and wonderful all at the same time when we look back at all that life can bring...

36. I loves me some sushi.
Sashimi, too. I'm not that into the really exotic stuff, but the salmon and tuna rock, and there are a lot of rolls I really like. It's a bit of an acquired taste, I guess.

to see what all the fuss was about.

I was singularly unimpressed. I don't like seafood, though...and I LOATHE salmon, so caviar was kinda...well...wasn't gonna ever be one of my favorites.

I'm more of a Cheetoes kinda gal...

I despise the concept/conditions too much.

To sort of turn the tables...ever had rhubarb pie? Not bad, when it's made with enough sugar.

28. I have to confess....
I've had veal. But, in my defense, it was when I was a kid and we were living overseas and I didn't know what it was.

And hon, I make THE BEST rhubarb pie on the planet. With or without strawberries. And I used to have a recipe for strawberry-rhubarb preserves that's to DIE for.

31. Live grubs
Insect larva while on a survival course.

And most of the rest of the world do eat insects as part of their regular diet. Great source of fats and proteins with far less risk of disease.

If you can get your western mind past it, they are surprisingly delicious. Kind of sweet and tangy at the same time. However, do not eat a grub that has been feasting on dead animal flesh, at least not without boiling. While the parasites they ingest might not be a problem for them, they can pose one for you. A grub eating plant matter is pretty safe to eat.

I wouldn't want to make a steady diet of them but if I was trapped in the wilderness I would be tipping rocks at the first hunger pang.

I've also had candied grasshopper once. That was simply fucking delish.

I've always seen them on pizza menus, but neither I nor anyone who I have been around had ordered a pizza with them on it. It personally seems a little gross to me.
Speaking of fish, I have got tried fish tacos either.
