1. I would love to see "Little Miss Sunshine" win Best Picture
It's a wonderful, funny movie.

I'm predicting "Babel" will win, though.

2. Finally saw
Iwo Jima today.

The only one I haven't seen is Babel, but you'd have to cuff me and drag me in to see it - I hated 21 Grams and this looks even more annoying. So...

My vote, suprisingly, is for "The Queen".

Saw it a few months ago, and it still sticks with me. It was just a perfect little movie. Mirren will win Best Actress for sure, but having thought about all the ones I've seen, I think it's the Best Picture as well.

3. I liked "The Queen", but...
I guess I was more impressed with Helen Mirren's performance than the movie itself. Don't get me wrong...it's a good film. But I don't think it will win Best Picture.

4. Well
as I said, I haven't seen Babel and don't plan to.

I loved Little Miss Sunshine and would be tickled if it won, but I doubt it will. To me, it's between The Queen and The Departed, and while I loved The Departed, I just adored The Queen. It surprised me - it actually made you very sympathetic to a family that was out of touch and just naturally predisposed to do the wrong thing.

Yes, a lot of that was Mirren's performance, but I think the rest of the film held up really well - especially the screenplay.

5. I haven't even seen it, but Inland Empire is my write-in on principle alone.

8. Almost saw that today....
then saw it's almost 3 hours.

I love Lynch, but I think this might be something to watch on DVD so I can pause it and go "WTF?!" a few times.

6. My choice would be "Little Miss Sunshine" by default.
It's the only one I've seen. I really loved it though.

I want to see "The Queen" and "Iwo Jima," but I have no interest in either "Babel" or "The Departed."

7. You should see The Departed...
It's got just a bundle of great performances in it. I'm rooting for Mark Wahlberg to win Supporting Actor - he was great.

But then, I love anything Scorsese does.

9. I wouldn't be opposed to watching it.
"Babel," on the other hand, I plan on avoiding at all costs. I fucking hated "21 Grams," and from the description, this is the same movie.

Who knows - it could be this year's "Crash"! :eyes:

10. Yep
same here.

I didn't see Crash either, cuz it looked horrible. Then, it won the Oscar, and i actually bought it on DVD when i saw it on sale, but I still haven't brought myself to actually watch it.

11. I saw "Crash" several months ago.
I just didn't see what the fuss was. It wasn't anything special.

12. Just saw Little Miss Sunshine
I loved it. Three and a half stars out of 4 for me. Laughs throughout, but usually not cheap laughs. The whole cast did a great job of giving the dysfunctional family warmth. The pageant part is just what I expected, and the point was

MINOR SPOILER

that Olive had more fun than the rest of the beauty pageant contestants ever did.

END MINOR SPOILER

The film wasn't quite as good as Akeelah and the Bee, but that movie isn't up, so I'm fine with Little Miss Sunshine winning.

13. None of them stand out for me
But I'm not certain which one either. Compared to last year, this year's lot is not stellar. I still thought "Good Night and Good Luck" should have won.

I was disappointed "Dream Girls" didn't get a nod. I couldn't understand why it didn't, other than the writer had also written "Chicago" and some members didn't want the writer to win again.

14. Same here
Though I did like the anti-gun message of Babel, subtle as it was. And it was beautifully filmed.
