2. My kids have watched it somewhat recently, and like it.
They weren't as crazy about it as people were when it came out, but it still has charm.

5. It depends
Do you have a sense of humor?

Do you appreciate sarcasm?

Do you enjoy sarcastic humor?

Did you like Stripes?

6. Heck, yeah.
Lovecraftian horror and silly humor is an incredibly fragile mix. The movie pulls it off effortlessly.

7. Ahhh. The innocence and kitschiness of of 1984...
Well, apart from the dream sequence - whoa, dude! :wow:

The 1989 sequel royally stinks...

8. It's a fun movie
Any movie where you can have Bill Murray saying "We came, we saw - we kicked its ass!" can't be all bad.

9. It is kind of a "period piece"
when humor was silly and innocent. A pre-9/11 kind of humor - when the only thing we had to worry about was unspeakable evil trying to take over the world.

That and giant Marshmallow men.

15. one movie reviewer

said that it was the antidote or the antithesis to sadistic horror movies.

"I'm the keymaster of Gozor, are you the gatekeeper?"

"There is no Dana, only Zool."

edit: "He slimed me."

12. High quality fun
I probably liked it more as a kid, if just because the sliming is a bit childish, but I still would like it.

17. Two of my favorite actors
Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray, along with the utter geekiness of Rick Moranis, make it remarkably funny in that 1980's way.

And you have to love the location work. The firehouse which served as the Ghostbusters headquarters is a real NYC firehouse. The last time I was in Manhattan we walked past it and I think it has the Ghostbusters emblem on it.
