Youtube now officially sucks
They are removing any video that has graphic images of the Iraq War. Bastards. I knew this would happen when they got bought out, but still, it's a sad day.

1. Youtube has been taking a bunch of stuff down lately
Just last night I had to remove 10 channels from my favorites list because their accounts have been suspended

2. Sounds like they are creating a huge gap for a secondary market.
This would be a great opportunity for somebody to create an alternative to Youtube.

And lo and behold, I'm currently in the process of getting my IT degree. I might just take a shot at this in a few months.

10. Thanks! That does help,
but the hardest part is actually the legal end of it. Prior to getting bought out by Google, the kids that owned youtube were embroiled in countless lawsuits. I think that had a lot to do with why they sold it. Oh yeah, the $1 billion dollar price tag probably didn't hurt either. But I'm getting my IT degree from a technology/business/legal trade school, so maybe I can enlist the help of some folks in the legal department. I can handle the tech stuff, it's the legal stuff that scares me.

11. lol
it would be funny to see google end up with a $4 billion dinosaur in no time flat. They'd better get it together. You know, the guys who started the original youtube ought to start another one up, call it 2tube or something, and work out the kinks, make it better than youtube, and sell it to Yahoo for even more money.

Hypocracy, thy name is YouTube.

At least with google video, you can download videos to your computer and watch them if you have iTunes.

9. yes
what is driving me nuts is the tag spamming so if you search for anything all these porn site teasers come up. It's insane. And the morans who load 7 seconds of cellphone video on there. Why??? Google could improve it but it looks like they are not willing to. Viacom has yanked a bunch of stuff in the last couple weeks, they must have a whole dept of people hired just to kill stuff on there.

12. The entertainment industry has sought to it to make sure that YouTube gets destroyed
They even claim that it's copyright infringement if you post of video of yourself doing something goofy with one of their songs or shows in the background. Fuck them. First they sue the elderly and little kids for music downloading, now this shit? I'm sorry, but Viacom can take the DMCA and shove it up its collective ass. I should have every right to post a karaoke video or an old MTV music video that will never be played again.

18. It sure is. So many favorites are disappearing.
Pretty soon, all that will be left will be videos of teenagers pulling "Jackass" style stunts and parents coaxing Maddysen-MaKinzee to say "Hi."

26. Policy or not, I'd say youtube has been guilty of "selective enforcement"
As others have pointed out, there are many videos of Saddam's hanging. There are many gung ho jacked up patriotic "tributes" to the troops on youtube, with no real emphasis on the consequences of the war. Recently there was a video put out by the Iraqi resistance, that showed no violence or serious blood. It was merely a plea by them for us to leave their country. It was removed with no explanation.

I know you can't really call this "censorship" because yoututbe is a private site. But it still pisses me off. Whether it's the government or it's corporations, we are still being spoon-fed a sanitized version of this war. So while I can't say youtube is guilty of censorship, I can say they definitely suck.

28. You-tube only removes videos that get a lot of complaints.
That's why Michelle Malkin's videos are gone. They don't watch all or much of what is submitted, as that would be several hours of video every minute.
