2. I'll guess that, yes it will
Letterman should try that one out on his show. I wonder if Regis is available.

3. Probably not
Head has a lot of bone. Of course, if the person were really fat, it might make a difference.

Maybe the plot treatment would be to put the head in a bag with a brick....

at some point the audience has to SEE the face because it's important to the story that they know who this is....but i think you're right. the skull is too heavy....i think it would sink. good.

6. Severed heads have their own quantum behavior
they are typically submersive objects most of the time, but when an observer gets close enough they will rise to the surface.

This is what the movies and crime shows have taught me, anyway

8. No

I think it is too heavy

although there is a lot of hollow space

if a lot of brain matter leaves it might float for a bit

however, it will sink.

9. they will float in salty water or fresh water once the brain begins to rot
Edited on Sun Feb-18-07 03:05 PM by itsmesgd
bacteria that eats the body tissue during decomposition releases gas and unless it is vented out of the nose or mouth via a rupture of membranes it will float.

research the "body farm" in Knoxville. It is where the forensic school tests the various states of decay in the human body. They leave bodies to rot in all kinds of different scenarios and document the effects.

10. I would think that it would become water logged, sink , and then maybe
pop back up sometime around the 14th chapter. :hi:

11. Well, on the Sopranos, when Tony killed Ralphie and Christopher
cut his head off, they had to put the head in a bowling bag before they threw it in the quarry. I imagine they knew what they were doing.

14. on a similar note- if you string up some piano wire across a snowmobile trail-
yadda, yadda, yadda...

how do you get the head out of the helmet? it's a nice one, and i'd like to be able to use it myself...(umm- the helmet, not the head)

17. Spring water and lye.
leave upside down for about a week then you can hose the helmet out. Let it sit full of water for another week, changing the water daily. Finally, get the liners professionally cleaned.

Just a wild guess.

18. i was thinking about a five-gallon bucket full of maggots...
once the ears and most of the flesh are gone,it should slide out pretty easy.

i'm just afraid that using lye might ruin the lining.

19. At first it would float because there is a lot of soft tissue lighter than water
But then later it would sink.

Good times.

You don't want to leave any air pockets.

25. It depends
A lean, skeletal head would in all probability sink.
Fat jowls, however might provide buoyancy enough to keep it near the surface.
