I've lost about 30 pounds in the last few months!
It doesn't come off the way it used to, but it's finally coming off. Back in late 2006, I was all the way up to 293 lbs. on the Rite Aid scale, which tends to weigh me about 2 lb. heavier than the doctor's scale. I went to the doctor today for what will most likely be the last appointment for an abcess on my leg, and I was shocked to see that I was down to 261! Just to make sure that it wasn't some error, I went to Rite Aid after my appointment and weighed myself on that scale: 263, 2 lbs. above the doctor's scale as usual! The weight loss has been weird this time. I'll stay the same weight for a really long time, sort of zig-zagging due to differences in how much food or water I have inside me at the time. (I'll probably be zig-zagging in the low to mid-260s this week) Then, after not losing a damn thing, there's a huge unexpected drop! I haven't been following a strict diet at all (I will still snack on things like Skittles or Mentos sometimes) but I've been eating in moderation, and it's slooowwwwwly coming off!

14. Thanks, WindRavenX!
I actually lost about 70 pounds back in 2003, but gained a lot of it back over the last couple of years. I plan on keeping it off this time once I get down to what feels like a good weight.

I have also given up daily Mountain Dews. I now drink Trader Joe's Energy Drinks. As best as I can tell there is no high fructose corn syrup in the TJ Energy Drinks.

Congratulations on your weight loss!!

I think they help me lose weight by eating them as a snack instead of more high-calorie/unhealthy snacks.

10. Thanks. I know about plateus..I think I was in the low 280's for about a month!
The first 10 pounds dropped off very easily, but then my body became very stubborn! Then, after all that time, I suddenly dropped into the mid-270s.

4. I started that process today
I had a gift cert for 50 bucks for a local supermarket.

I dumped all the shit beer out of my fridge, dumped a half-eaten bag of potato chips, dumped a few other crap things. In place I've got milk and decent cereal, premium roast beef and buffalo chicken slices from the deli and some nice bread to put it in to take to work for lunch instead of going out and getting junk food. I actually bought some apples and a bag of pretzel rods for snacks, as well as some oatmeal bars for breakfast instead of the usual Dunkin Donuts bagel. Also have some yogurts in the fridge. Tonight I'm having the last few decent beers left and few Italian sausages it would've been simply wasteful to throw out.

Tomorrow is a new day. :)

5. I was amazed in just how much better you feel eating better.
Fresh eggs, bread, yogurt, oatmeal, fruits, lean chicken--no sugar. Lots of wine.

And pot.

7. fucking hippies
hoggin' all the good shit...

FWIW, adding wine to my diet has made me wonder if it's causing me to crave sugar less. I have no desire for sugary things anymore, even while buzzed.

I'm a bigger fan of white (it's sweeter), but red is better for you

13. I think that's a result of eating healthier
When I get most of my sugars from natural sources, fruit etc. I find that I crave the sugary crap a lot less.

16. Good start
But I would add several tweaks. Make the milk 2% or less. Make the bread and cereal both whole grain (first ingredient should be whole wheat NOT enriched wheat flour) and at least add some veggies like tomato and leafy greens to your sandwich.

Pretzels aren't really a good choice because they're all refined carbs and salt. For crunch, try whole-grain crackers or microwave popcorn that's mostly fat-free.

A lot of commercial breakfast bars are overprocessed and have too much sugar. Kashi makes good cereals and bars and is available at a lot of regular stores.

I can't have any tempting food in my house or I'll eat it. I still have treats, but try to limit it.

11. You should have converted them to Euros or Yen.
I wouldn't have gone with the dollar though.

12. that is a great thing, but
if some lose weight too fast, they can look forward to serious gall bladder troubles.
