Is Norway the only country with fjords?
I'm curious but not curious enough to actually do the research myself. And what the hell is a fjord anyway?

1. They call 'em "firths" in Scotland.
A fjord is a long, narrow inlet or bay; part of the coastal waters defined by the surrounding land.

3. Yeah...
but mostly because they call them something else in other places.

I'm lazy, too. They're gorgeous, though. I'd go back there in a heartbeat if the opportunity came up.

7. The definition of a fjord is that it is glacial cut valley
which is drowned as sea level rises--as it does in a post glacial period.

Glacier valleys have steeper sides and flatter bottoms than stream-cut valleys; that, along with the fact that when they are made a lot of water is tied up in ice means sea level is lower, so the valleys can be cut deeper.

That's what makes them so damned pretty.

Finally, 12 years on, that class in Geomorphology is paying off. :)

the Fjord du Saguenay.

Don't know about other provinces, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are some in the maritimes or in BC.

Edit: as noted above, there is are some in Newfoundland.
