Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?

I learn something new everyday.

Today on "The Price Is Right", Bob Barker used the phrase when the announcer called out a new contestant. Apparently, Bob, I and undoubtedly many others, have been using the phrase incorrectly.

"Wherefore" is the equivalent of "why". Juliet is bemoaning the fact that Romeo is a member of a feuding family. She is not wondering aloud where he is.

I'll be damned...

1. Yep, "Why must you be Romeo, a member one of that family?"

Did you never study Romeo and Juliet at school?

2. I don't remember. Certainly not beyond high school. If so, I imagine that this

was lost amongst the rest of the play.

Edit: Is that her next line? Huh...I'm even more perplexed as to how I didn't realize this earlier.
