I am so screwn.
My engine blew up on me today.

After all the money I've sacrificed on the four-tired alter, it betrayed me and threw a rod back into my face. After the brake rebuilds, the transmission replacements, all the special oil additives and high octane gasoline pumped into its bottomless gullet, today it suddenly did its death rattle thing, turned its soft underbelly up to the sky, and it lay down and died.

I hope it ends up in the hell of rusted out hulks too useless to even crush into a cube to recycle.

Alas, AND alack.

I am SO screwn.

1. I am so sorry
I know how that feels. I paid someone to rebuild the engine in my Isuzu and they didn't do it right and it threw a rod again within days. Then the business closed and filed bankruptcy so I never got my money back. It sucks.

3. That sucks
 I went through the same thing with my beloved 1992 Chevy Lumina.

4. Well, you can always get a new engine
Or at least a new (rebuilt) lower end - block, crank, rods, pistons, that stuff. Slap the old heads on top and you're good to go. Well, maybe it's not quite that easy. But may be worth it after all the other work you've done on it.

6. Yeah, I've already priced that at just under two thou.
My mechanic has already tracked down a used engine with a 6 month warranty, and he can drop it in in three days. It's a possibility, but not my preferred one. I've already sunk WAY too much into that cursed machine.

9. Your car should be named "Iraq" ...
tough choice,

to keep pumping money in because you've already invested so much, and maybe this engine "money surge" will fix it once and for all
(bush, stay the course)

or, to write it off as money down the drain, and just pull out of the deal, try to justify the dollars lost on tranny etc.
(obama, get out now)

Do you like this car, or is it just transportation?

8. It's a '91 Ford Explorer.
Yep, the first one they officially called an SUV. The only reason I bought it in the first place is the price was right, and there's enough room in the back for my computer stuff.

10. I have a '95 Explorer Sport 4x4 with a manual tranny
I can let you have it cheap. Runs great! Otherwise I'm going to donate it to the local food pantry...
