(Speaking of things that creep you out.)

Maybe I don't want to know this.

1. I have no idea, but I think the inventor of Clamato...

...should be drawn and quartered. What deluded soul came up with that atrocity and then thought, "Hey! This stuff will sell like hotcakes"? Yuuuuuuuck!

2. Not too bad
Clam juice, the strained liquid of shucked clams, has a refreshing briny flavor. Sold bottled in most food stores, it is often used as a cooking liquid for seafood dishes and as a convenient substitute for fish stock.

5. I find it hard to believe that so much juice...
...is just drained off shucked clams. I think something else is goin' on. If it's so easy to collect, why don't we see oyster juice, too? Or mussel juice?

10. Most people don't know this, but it is a horrible travesty. I am outraged.
they keep these poor clams in captivity in tanks so small the clams can't even walk around. Then they force them to drink water--not just a little water to quench their thirst--no!--tens of times their own weight in water until it builds and builds and builds inside the poor little clams' delicate little tiny cute little bodies. Then finally, in what must be an excruciating climax to this torture, the poor delicate cute little thing explodes into a little bottle. Slave-labor children from Haiti then individually lick the glue-backed labels that say "clam juice" and affix them to the bottles, all so people like you can flavor your savory sauces and beverages with a little taste of "the sea."

I'm disgusted.

Most people don't know this.

14. Call from my brother, about to cook supper for 6: "What part of the chicken is the 'stock'?"
After I picked myself off the floor and got my breath back, I explained that 'stock' was a liquid, like the liquid part of any chicken soup.

"So, do I hold the chicken over a pan and squeeze real hard? Hey, STOP LAUGHING, I have people coming for supper and I need to know this stuff..." says my 6'4" baby brother who probably could get liquid outta a chicken by squeezing.

True story. He has since gone on to become a pretty good cook.

15. It's actually clam milk, not juice.
See, few people know that clams have little tiny teats. In third world countries, children as young as 2 are enslaved by clammers and forced to sit beside giant piles of clams, milking and milking for pennies a day, all because of their puny fingers. It's actually an outrage.

CALL CONGRESS NOW!!11!!11! AND DEMAND THEY STOP THIS TRAVESTY!!1!! IM SERIES!1!1!
