The babies have been fussing and I've been holding one for three hours. I've reliquished her to the night nanny and have poured myself some wine. All would be well if this computer weren't so darned slow.

What are you up to tonight? More importantly, what did you have for dinner?

P.S. I miss DU

1. So the question is...
Whose yowling was worse--the AI contestants' or the babies'? :D

I think I know the answer...!

P.S.: It gets easier--really!

4. Good god, they're not my babies!
My little sister had twins, and I'm down for a visit.

Just the thought of more babies makes my blood run cold!

And one extremely fussy crying baby. And one very stressed out wife.
I think tonight it'll just be me up and about. Everyone else will be asleep.

My life is very dull right now.

Thank goodness for DU.

Oh yes, and I can't stand American Idol.

5. With a fussy baby and stressed-out wife life may be boring
but I doubt your hours go unoccupied. I'm down here helping with my sister's three month old twins (and two older children). I'm suddenly remembering why being old isn't so bad.

Hi, mainegreen. I wish I'd had dinner with you guys :hi:

14. Trader Joe's? Wow, that's weird.
I'd *never* heard of it before today, and all of a sudden, my wife mentions it, I read an article about it, and see it come up as possibly expanding into the Portland area, and now you mention it.

Weird!

16. As I was walking through the place for the first time, I was wishing
there was one up in Bangor. I sort of assumed you would have one already but I guess not. The one thing I miss about the city is the access to great grocery stores. We have one "health food" store in the entire area and maybe two "asian groceries". It's just not enough!

Grocery shopping for us is a big deal, and usually involves a trip to one store to get our meat (they have the best sausage in Maine, restaurant or otherwise, no contest), to one baker to get our bread, to the asian store (asian store for actual asian people) to get that stuff (sauces, rice, noodles, seaweed), to Hanafords (or Shop'n'Save as I still call it) to get the basics, and to Wild Oats for the fancy, pansy organic and health stuff.

Food is important to us! I couldn't live without good options in food shopping.

And shopping takes all day.

*whew*

37. Well, it surprised me because I've heard it praised.
It was sort of the kingdom for prepackaged organic foods which isn't what I expected. There was a good selection of fresh bread and a small selection of fresh meats. Otherwise there was organic breakfast cereal, lots and lots of organic candy, chips, and other snacks... coffees, teas etc. I'd hoped for a more international flair but what it really sells is reasonably priced organic food that your average american might be able to stomach.

and I like American Idol. :P

I don't care what anyone says, there are some talented people that come out of it. And it's fun. You all hard heads that won't get past the commercialism need to relax and listen and have a little fun. Things don't always have to have a huge profound meaning in life.

8. Hi Engi!
I completely agree that there are talented contestants... that's not what bothers me. I can't stand seeing the young men and ladies get up there and do their best, and then get slammed - even if they haven't performed particularly well. Myself, I'd kill for any one of their voices.

Booze is usually my Friday dinner but this has been a relatively dry weekend. Have you stopped drinking?

30. My BIL was talking about getting yet another nanny to fill
in the gaps between the day one and the night one. He was listing for all of us what he hopes she can do... prepare dinner, supervise the kids' homework, clean up after the meal and put the kids to bed, do a bit of laundry... "And then fuck you," said one of my sisters who is not his wife. There was a moment of shocked silence and then huge laughter. "Ideally, yes," said Roger. I think these all-purpose nannies might be hard to find however.
