I got a voice-mail and e-mail from someone from Target Consulting who said they were impressed with my resume online. I googled the name and it looks like a CutCo like pyramid scheme.

Anyone hear anything about this?

1. Hi Hon,
it says on their site that they are part of the better business bureau. Call the BBB and see if there have been any complaints against them. I deal in Fraud, but it is bank fraud. I have not heard of these guys before, but then again, stuff pops up over night! I thought you were looking for a teaching job? These guys sound like they are looking for sales people?? Or did I just not read enough??

2. Oooh I still want to teach--I have my resume on monster and that's how they found it
Seems weird that they would call someone looking for a position in biotech or education for a sales position...

:hi:

3. I almost joined Cutco. Thank goodness for the Internet research I did.
I had a funny feeling when they didn't ask about my sales experience and when the other applicant suddenly left the office.

I'm glad I acted on that instinct. I've heard horror stories about Vector/Cutco.

5. Here's how I understand it.
Cutco does not sell in stores or over the internet, so how do you sell the product. You "enlist" college age kids who may be majoring in business, marketing or whatever else to sell the product for you. Don't send the kids samples of the product to show potential product! Instead have the kids BUY the product to be marketed. Lock'em in with commitment on paper and hey you've already made as sale!
I have read some real horror stories about Cutco/Vector recruiting practices. I cannot testify to them personally. It does seem rather odd to me that if Cutco is willing to sell a product(s) with an unconditional lifetime guarantee (this is also not beholding to the original purchaser), they would be willing to let it stand against other makes in the retail market? Or maybe, the product simply is not as good as what can be gotten elsewhere.

A run-down on what I have read about the knives and blades they sell:

The so-called ergonomic grip- feels strange in the hands & does not offer a comfortable grip.

Sharpness- yes, the blades are sharp but will need resharpening somewhat more often than the other types of steel used. I guess Cutco will resharpen them for a modest fee and you have to pay for shipping to and from to get job done. Also, Cutco uses stamped blades, most high quality cooking/kitchen blades are forged.

For a stamped blade knife they are surprisingly expensive.

Bottom line- If you want a good set of kitchen cutlery, shop around or go online for a good set of forged steel blades and take good care of them. You could probably get a decent set of Henkels, Wulstolf or Lamson Sharp for a better price.
