How do you know that your makeover is a success ? When no one recognizes you :)

I am going through a Spring makeover. I started with my hair. Normally I wear it brown and wavy but after 3 years of that , I grew tired and went for something fresh. Straight jet black hair and toshow how girly girl I am becoming (I am so late, I was such the tomboy growing up) I wore a headband. I went to work last night and no one knew who I was. I waved at some of the ladies and they looked at me like "huh, who the hell is that ?" I went up to them later and they said " Ohmigosh you look so pretty !" - It makes me feel good. I went and showed my mom my new do and she liked it a lot. My mom is still doing great thank goodness :) She has been working half work days for the past month now and she is doing great.

4. Thanksgiving Weekend 2006 my mom had an aneurysm ...

It was the scariest time of my life. My mom had an aneurysm (I still can't believe it. She is so STRONG ! As I have always known.) She spent about 2 weeks in the ICU and then she came home. Her medication had to be regulated. It was the scariest time of my life. I had to force myself to grow up in a way. Long story short - my mom is now driving on her own and she is back at work :) Amazing :)

5. That's great news

My Mom had a bad fall in 2002, and the aftermath was horrific. She had PTSD, would not eat or get out of bed for a few months, lost 40 pounds. I was finally able to convince my family she needed psychiatric care, got her treatment, the right meds. It is a very maturing process, especially when you have to yell at your 80 year old dad because he's just not getting it. Now they're both fine and enjoying their senior living community.

2. Had that happen to me in college

Sat next to a guy from my high school every day in one class. At Penn State, jeans, sweatshirt, and no make-up was the uniform, in addition to which I wore glasses pulled my hair back into a pony tail (given that we had the same precipitation totals as Seattle, it was the most sensible hair-do)

Saw him at a club, and was talking to him, and it was clear he had no idea who I was. He admitted he didn't recognize me with my hair down, contacts in, makeup on, and wearing something other than jeans and a sorority sweatshirt.

3. I'm glad to hear your mom's doing well

And it's fun to make a change, isn't it?

I went to a co-worker's wedding a few years ago - I was wearing a little spangly red number with my hair down and makeup on. At one point, the groom who worked in my department got all the women who worked with him together for a photo so me and the other 3 posed together.

The following day at work, I was talking to one of those women about the wedding and she said, "Oh, you were there?" I said, "Jill, we had our photo taken together!"

She'd had no idea it was me. :rofl:
