3. Nope..I think just the name puts people off..HAGissssss..
If they wanted more people to eat it they should probably have given it a more appetizing name like "super delectable melt-in-your-mouth tasty goodness" or something like that.

6. Yep, it was fine. It was like a cross between meatloaf and pate.
I've had better things in my life, but I've also had much, much, much worse.

7. We lived in Scotland in the 60's
My parents were friends with the gamekeeper of the local Shire (County) The lady could make an incredible Haggis dinner. Like other entrees, when fixed right it can be great. Also a homemade recipe for Scottish Broth is probably the best soup I have ever tasted.

9. care to share you "Scotch Broth" recipe?
I used to make some from memory having watched my grandmother make it but it's been years since I've made any.

I'd really appreciate a good recipe if you wouldn't mind sharing.

thanks!

10. I'd love to
if I had it. It vanished after my Step Mom died 18 years ago. Lots of veggies and some sort of pasta or rice. Very rich broth. My buddies would come to the house, not to see me, but to eat my StepMom's cooking.

I checked on google and found this:

http://www.rampantscotland.com/recipes/blrecipe_broth.htm

I hope you come up with a good batch. God, Scotland is(was) such an incredibly beautiful country. always got fish and chips wrapped in newspaper and soaked with vinegar on Fridays.

8. born and raised in Scotland, and I really like haggis
an acquired taste I supposed. Served with mashed 'neeps (turnips), it's a good meal. Sticks to your ribs.

:)

11. Love the neeps!
God those folks could put together a spread of food. My Dad would go hunting with the game keeper (north of Dundee) and after they were finished they'd come home, with a mess of Pheasant, Uncork a bottle of Scotch and throw away the cork. I, of course, had a kilt.

13. The trick is to not think about it.
It's kind of like Calamari, Sushi, and other "ethnic" foods. People tend to react to the thought of what is is, and never give it a try. If they go into the meal thinking it's going to be disgusting, the taste buds will find something different to latch onto, and it will be disgusting. If you go into the meal expecting it to taste good, it probably will (unless it does genuinely taste bad).

That said, there are still a few foods I won't eat, primarily those involving brains, eyeballs, or tongues. Haggis is good though. A little strange to look at, but as long as it's prepared correctly it's fine. Kind of like a veggie heavy meatloaf. It's not a delicacy and isn't something I'd order at a restaurant, but I would have no qualms with eating it if it were placed in front of me. It tastes fine.

14. When made properly, it's delicious.
If you can eat ham and eggs first thing in the morning, haggis shouldn't be a problem.

26. Yep.
I know lots of people who like it. Most of them are my family members.

I hated it and I used to gag myself every time they made me eat it. Then again, I was seven years old. Maybe my view isn't the most positive.
