Clumpable litter doesn't work with me
My biggest pees so much, that he saturates the bottom of the litter pan and makes this unscoopable solid with just one passing. Grrrrr!! Anyone have any ideas?

1. Use a litter pan liner
or get used to scraping more. We chose the latter. No easy fix there, I'm afraid.

2. Have you had him checked for kidney problems or diabetes?
Flooding the box isn't normal.

6. that's what I was thinking.
It sounds like it's too much...of course each cat is unique, but I don't know.

5. Maybe, you are not putting enough litter in the pan.
Edited on Mon Mar-12-07 07:27 PM by Jamastiene
Some cats just pee more at the time. I use a large (deep) covered litter pan and make sure I use at least 5-6 inches of the clumbable litter as far as depth goes. One of my cats holds it and pees what appears to be a gallon before she goes. It's not literally that much, but she doesn't pee as often, so when she does pee, it's more. Use more littler and make the litter deeper. That works. Plus you don't have fo do a complete rechange of the litter as often that way either, just add to it. Been there, done that. Good luck!

7. Pine litter is pretty neat.
It comes in large chunks, and breaks down into sawdust when it gets wet, and neutralizes the ammonia. You scoop out the solids, and change the litter every week or so. The sawdust is supposed to be biodegradable and environmentally safe once it's used up.
