For me it's always ELO's "Out of the Blue" and believe me I'm in a pissy-ass mood right now!

1. Songs for Sixty Five Roses
It's a compiliation CD that came out last year. NC musicians doing covers of NC music to benefit cystic fibrosis research. The daughter of legendary NC musician John Plymale was diagnosed with CF. The fact that so many talented people would come to the aid of an old friend warms my heart, and the performances on the album are absolutely great.

19. Members of them are on the Sixty Five Roses
Tom Maxwell and Ken Mosher join Robert Sledge in a cover of the song Buddha, Buddha. Katherine Whalen performs a song whose title escapes me.

8. Love the Dropkick Murphy's
I think Irish music in general has the theme "Let's get drunk, fight, and then die!"

9. Talking Heads "Naked" works for me
or at least it did about 10 minutes ago. Anything by Cachao or Tito Puente works wonders too.

There are others - I guess it depends on what I want the end result to be. if I want to be angrier sometimes I'll listen to some Faith No More.

15. Billy Joel River of Dreams
Edited on Tue Mar-13-07 10:48 AM by havocmom
Especially track 4 A Minor Variation The music is blues-y and the lyrics...

A Minor Variation by Billy Joel

Some days I have to give right in to the blues
Despite how I try to keep fightin'
It's a sure shot I'm going to lose

And I'll tell you why
You think I'm crazy
It's such a sad composition
But can you blame me

For what's been causing my bad disposition?
Ain't nothing new with my blue situation
And nothing's fine, it's just a minor variation

When troubles want to find me, I ain't hard to find
They know where I am
Like a hungry pack of wolves when it's feeding time
They tear up a man

And it's a strange thing
'Cause now it don't really matter
More of the same thing
Don't even hurt it's been part of the pattern

But still in all it's a small consulation
I just define it as a minor variation

Ain't no way to fight 'em darling

Ain't no way around 'em baby

Ain't no way to take 'em honey

Nowhere to hide and believe me I've tried to shake 'em

I'm getting to the point where I don't feel the pain
And I've had enough
I'm ready for the next time it hits me again
'Cause I've gotten tough

It doesn't faze me
And now I've made my decision
I may be crazy
It's not as though I don't know that condition

Until I'm through with this blue situation
Pass me the wine, it's just a minor variation

Ain't nobody's business, baby

Ain't nobody's worry darlin'

Ain't nobody's problem

No way to win when you've already been forgotten

And it's a strange thing
'Cause now it don't really matter
More of the same thing
Don't even hurt, it's a part of the pattern

Until I'm through with this blue situation
Pass me the wine, it's just a minor variation

eidted to add: ya GOTTA get up outta yo chair and MOOOOVE! Dis is da tune for it!

22. Easy E All Stars (reggae) Radiodread (cover of OK Computer)
It takes me from a place where I am upset or pissy and resets me back to mellow. It doesnt make me happy per se, but levels me off pretty well.

Check it out if you like Radiohead

24. I have a Polysics mix CD I put together...
It's almost impossible to not get happy listening
to "New Wave Jacket", or "I My Me Mine"...

If all else fails, I like to imagine that it's actually
Professor Stephen Hawking "sitting in" for the vocals on their
cover of "My Sharona". That's seriously happymaking!
