can't remember what street, but in the same block as the "japan hotel" (which i don't think is there anymore either, it was an SRO).

The area that makes of the southernmost part of the great state of Illinois is referred to as 'Little Egypt'.

Hence, the mascot for Southern Illinois University is the Saluki.

SIU is playing Kansas tonight in the NCAA basketball tournament.
