5. I haven't watched much of this but Tuesday night I sure did.
Melinda was awesome...what a voice. The crying girl - 13 yr. old Ashley - was on The Today Show this morning.

12. The girl cried the whole time
She seemed overwhelmed by it all. It wasn't just during sanjia (sp?) that she cried.

20. The girl reminded Derby and me
of the girl in the movie "Tommy" who snuck out to see Tommy's performance.

6. For the first time I have someone to root for.
I'm still not watching the show either way. I didn't like it the first time, when it was called Star Search.

7. Sanjaya's better than his AI performances would suggest . . .
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 09:33 AM by OneBlueSky
he's just inexperienced, scared, intimidated by the judges, and picking the wrong songs . . . beneath all that he has a decent singing voice and a lot of potential . . . all he needs is a good vocal coach and a few years to mature . . .

check it out . . .

disclaimer: no, I don't vote, and I'm not a regular viewer . . . others in the house are, however, so sometimes it's hard to miss . . .

16. I don't even think Sanjay's performance was the worse of the nigh
He should have been in the bottom three but so should have Phil Stacy.

Phil didn't do his his song any favors either and at least Sanjaya had an entertainment factor to his performance.

how and when do I vote for Sanjaya?

Seriously, I'll vote as often as is permitted.

Let's get rid of that bastard Cowell!

edit- I think Sanjaya has a great voice.

17. Simon or Sanjaya?
Simon is the only judge worth listening to in the end. He doesn't always get it right but contestants would be better off listening to Simon vs. either Paula or Randy.

Chris Daughtery (sp?) wouldn't end up on my CD rotation one way or another but Simon knew that he was infinitely better than either Taylor or McPhee and sales figures have proven it despite him being eliminated before the final.

19. Paula is VERY goof if she's not on the Oxycontin
I'd say she's the best judge re: talent (when she's sober), and Simon is the most business savvy (ie what will sell).

21. Well..
sales figures don't always indicate quality, just like the critics' reviews don't. Personally, I like Kat and Taylor more than Daughtry. I'm surprised Taylor hasn't sold more with all those Soul Patrol people out there. Daughtry's voice is better than quite a few in his genre, but his songs generally bore me.

As far as the judges are concerned, I agree that Simon's analysis is most often correct, even if he can be a jerk about it. Paula has been more critical this year, though.

I don't think Sanjaya has much talent at all. He can't sing the slow, mid-tempo, OR fast songs, it seems. Stephanie has a better (if unremarkable) voice, but her performance on Dusty's song was pretty forgettable.
