Went to a Compusa here in St. Louis and found out their shutting down.
Is this just here or all over?

I happen to live in an area that is well served with computer stores, so from my perspective, it's no big deal. I hadn't bought anything from them in years anyway...

3. They weren't focused enough. I hate to see them go.

It was nice to have them around if I needed a power supply quick. I don't know why they decided to get into TV's and other non-computer related gear. If they had pursued the computer component area they could have stayed in business.

5. Damn, they're closing the wrong one near me

The Henderson, Nevada store is closing. They had terrific employees, always very friendly and knowledgable about the Mac section.

On the other hand, the surviving CompUSA store in Las Vegas is pathetic. A few years ago the manager wouldn't even honor a listed sales price. It was a great deal on a hard drive with the so-called instant savings, and he didn't want anything to do with that price. He hid in his little office and kept shuffling minor employees to turn me down. Finally I walked around the corner to confront him and be blatantly lied to me. I took his name and complained to the regional office and national office. They contacted me and said he had been "severely reprimanded," whatever that meant. I got a $50 gift certificate out of the situation, but mostly I wanted competence and good customer relations. They basically lost my business via that incident. I think I've been back once.

7. They shut the one down at Stonestown in SF, CA. I knew that one would go.

I don't know what company could come in and fill that giant retail space.

8. I bought my computer from CompUSA here in Marietta, GA.

I sure hope that one is not shutting down. Their prices are very reasonable.
