1. The Arboretum route around Lake Wingra
is a 10K. A popular route to take. Improvise from there.

Or Lake Monona is 12 miles around.

2. Cool
Is there a path around Monona or just the roads? I'm using mapmyrun to find out where to drop my wife off for a 9-mile trek around the lake.

3. Both
Use the bike path (clockwise) from just south of the Sheridan hotel past the convention center. Then when you get to the beautiful Wil-Mar neighborhood just use the streets. Use the sidewalk along Olbrich Park, then use the streets again in Monona.

The Lake Wingra route has mixed sidewalks/paths along Monroe Street, then all roads through the Arboretum and zoo.
