This couple I know moved to mexico recently
And they are going to fly me down for a visit this summer!!! I can't wait!! I need to get a passport though.I have no idea where to even go for a passport.

6. Yeah, but it lasts 10 years.
And renewals are less expensive.

4. My friends want me to move down there, they would put me up
But I have three cats and my elderly Grandparents to take care of. So I don't see that happening soon.

7. what part of mexico?
i don't know if the cats could go across the border but some parts of mexico are quite friendly to retirees and elders

10. i don't know that area but i've heard it's a great place to visit!

kidding - sort of - lots of retirees down there, and it is a little cheaper to live than the US. Not as much as it used to be, but still ...

11. i tried the state dept web site but the passport page with the PD is down (naturally)
but when it works again you can fill it out and then print out the forms and bring them to the post office but don't sign them until you get there. I got mine last year before the rush and it took about a month, my sister just got passports for my nieces and the processing time was 8 weeks.
