Calling all DU'ers who've had hip replacement--any with ceramic hardware?

I'm scheduled for hip replacement surgery in less than 2 weeks and I'm seriously
thinking of canceling it because it's taken me months to finally get the information that leads me to believe I may not be scheduled for the best procedure given my age.


Does anyone out there have a ceramic on ceramic hip? Did you have it placed
with a mini-incision? Did you have complications? How long have you had it?
Would you recommend your surgeon?

1. I haven't

but my father had a ceramic replacement a year and a half ago and he's doing beautifully. No complications, very little postoperative pain, things went very smoothly. And he was 77 when he had it done.

2. Glad to hear he's doing well. I'm especially interested in ceramic

because I'm only 56 and I understand it has the best 'wear' rate.
