Here comes the insomnia.
I can't sleep when the wind is high; I've not been able to for most of my life, and it's gusting to about 45 knots out there right now.

And our bed has windows on three sides of it, with two skylights above, so I will hear it when I go up there.

Well, I have a book to start, one that I've been seeking for a while, and just found yesterday. Good time to get going on reading it, yes?

1. My dear Redstone...
Yes indeed....it's an excellent time to get started on a new book...

The house is quiet now, and dark...

Everyone's asleep, even the puppy and kitten, I would guess...

I should be reading too....I'm in the middle of a book that WCGreen recommended...

"The Fortress of Solitude."

I'm enjoying it, even though it's strange...

Enjoy yours...

3. This book is the sequel to "A Canticle for Liebowitz," though I'm not sure how much
of it was actually written by Miller.

It might be good, or unreadable. But I have backup books just in case.

5. I loved "A Canticle for Liebowitz." Didn't know there was a sequel.
Hope it's good.

6. "Saint Liebowitz and the Wild Horse Woman." I don't think it sold well; I'd heard about it
but never seen it in a library. Found it at a local used-book store.

11. It's more of an additional chapter than a sequel.
It sits chronologically between the second and third sections of "Canticle." It's certainly worth reading, insofar as it adds detail to the original book. I'm amazed you found it. I treasure my copy and won't lend it out, because I know I'd have a hard time finding another.

4. don't worry about insomnia
that will cause you sleepless nights. x(

I have found that benedryl is quite useful, my sinuses are better in the a.m. and I sleep through the night, even in bad weather (like last night).

Hoping you have sweet dreams and soon.

8. Yes....
Just think of me doing a long involved Trust Fund tax return...

That should be enough to send anyone over that last hurdle to sleep...

10. Just climb into bed with your book
and lose yourself. Before you know it, either you'll finish the book or you'll be waking up in the morning.

I hope it's the latter and that you sleep better than you expect.

12. The wind here has been fierce and icy for most of a week.
There's always wind on this coast but this has been decidedly cold and harsh, different.

I don't have insomnia exactly but wake up in the middle of the night trying to solve problems -- in my sleep. Who knows -- maybe that's the best time to do that.

"Conversations with Kurt Vonnegut" came on Friday and so far, so good.
