Are there more Democrats in the US than Republicans?
I used to think so, but now I'm not so sure. Of course, repugs now used the "red" vs. "blue" state argument now. But that doesn't represent voters as much as it represents space. Does anyone have the numbers on this?

1. There are WAY more of us then them.
Most of us don't vote is the problem. Most on this board do, but the general working family public, no.

2. Overall, possibly. Voters, probably not
Anger gets would-be Republicans to the polls. Apathy keeps would be Democrats home. I think as far as the electorate goes (people who actually vote) there are more Democrats or at least people that lean Democratic, but the Republicans have other advantages, such as incumbency and the ability to redraw Congressional districts to split up the Democratic vote.

I would imagine actual numbers would be hard to come by. Really, I think it falls in that about 1/3 are liberal/left, 1/3 are conservative/right, and 1/3 are somewhere in the middle. That's why our recent elections have been so close.

3. I think so
If there weren't more of us than them, "they" wouldn't be systematically blocking every kind of general "get out the vote" initiative.

4. If you break it down to platforms...yes. There are way more liberal
thinkers than not. The problem is, there are a lot of Democratically minded people who vote one issue, or don't vote at all. I am ashamed to admit, there are 5 (sob) people in my family who refuse to vote/and yet who hate George Bush. I am working my hardest at getting them out there. The Republicans would love for us to think they are the majority. Michael Moore's book has a terrific chapter on this. :hi:
