Question about Barry Bonds
Not by me, by a guy who e-mailed "Ask the Announcers" on the Giants' radio broadcasts:

"Why can't the baseball world just sit back and enjoy Barry Bonds' pursuit of the home run record?"

Respondeth super-announcer Jon Miller:

"Why can't there be world peace?"

1. oooooh ooh oohh oooh! Pick Me!
Answer: Because BB holding the record makes him a "face of the game" and there are few people who reflect more poorly on the game than Barry Bonds and his career-long pursuit of the sulking, whining, and surliness records. (I came up with only one: Pete Rose.) OTOH, the guy he is replacing (Hank Aaron) is a class act.

2. Well, the real point of the post
was Miller's witty and spot-on rejoinder.

But, yeah.
