6. It's-It

In 1928, George Whitney began what is now a San Francisco tradition. He placed a scoop of vanilla ice cream between two large old-fashioned oatmeal cookies and then dipped the sandwich into dark chocolate. On that very day, the It's It Ice Cream Sandwich was born. George Whitney sold the It's It exclusively in San Francisco at his Playland-at-the-Beach. Playland-at-the-Beach is gone but the frozen treat can be found at discriminating grocery stores.

8. Cool-A-Coo was better
That was the LA version of It's It, only bigger, tastier and more pristine. I used to have box loads of them at USC basketball games and stock my freezer with them at home. They were best known at Dodger Games.

Unfortunately, and unbelievably, Cool-A-Coo went out of business a few years ago. Now I settle for It's It once in a while. Albertson's sells them here in Las Vegas for $2.89 for a three pack.

10. When in Rome (a Dodger homegame) and the Giants are ahead, I will try a Cool-A-Coo
Edited on Wed May-09-07 01:09 AM by BrotherBuzz
Haven't seen Cool-A-Coo's in our local Nor Cal markets, but I'm game if I spot one.

It's-It are now made in their Suisun, California plant, just a skip down the road from us, and we are starting to see them sold at local events.

11. Frozen Blueberries wiith Cream-Top Milk
This has been a favorite of mine since god was a child. Bowl full of frozen blueberries with a tiny sprinkle of sugar and enough cold milk poured over to cover the berries; let it sit a few minutes until the frozen berries freeze the milk. Break it up and chow down!

Funny thing is I'm not much of a milk or ice cream fan, but I adore this frozen milk-and-berries mush.
