I was driving a Jeep Wranger and I don't think I was getting 12 miles to the gallon. Hated to let my jeep go because it really was fun to drive.
But - realty set in. Our gas has gone up to over $3 here in Kansas City and I just couldn't afford to drive my Jeep any more. Didn't want to be giving that kind of money to the oil company.
So I ended up buying a Toyota Yaris (the car of choice in Europe and Canada) And you know, it is little but it drives just fine. Has plenty of get up and go. And gets about 35-40 mpg (I think it may be even higher some times from what I have read).
I drive a lot in my job so this is making a huge difference in the amount I have to put out for gas. And I am just fine with this car. It has plenty of room up front. If handles just fine. And it is fun to drive.
I'm not sure how a really big person would do in a Yaris. I feel like there is lots of room for me. And the windshield is so huge that I kind of feel like I am just flying along in a bubble - really cool at nite.
9. Well, the Prius were just flying out of the lot while I was there.
I couldn't afford a Prius so I just looked.
But I think a whole lot of people will be going for the more fuel efficient cars - especially after gas went over $3 here. And I think I am seeing a lot more smaller cars out on the road. And not nearly so many of the bigger SUV and truck types.
Driving one of those just isn't cool anymore - people just see it as stupid. Even around here in farm country. Not so many of the really big trucks the guys used to love.
