I paint every week with three wonderful women. One of them is VERY talented. She did a watercolor painting of a cherry tree and bough that is just fabulous. It was one of the first watercolors she ever did. I wanted that painting but knew if I asked to buy it she would insist on giving it to me. I consulted with my other painting partners and we came up with a plan. It just so happens that when she had the painting framed at a local frame shop, two strangers inquired of the frame shop owner if the painting was for sale. So we went to him and asked him to value the painting and be the middleman in a purchase from an "anonymous" purchaser. He made the deal with my friend and she is thrilled but does not know the identity of the buyer. When she come here to paint next week, she'll find her work of art on my mantle!
2. Well, it was wonderful for me because you would have to see
this painting...it is remarkable. I hope she will not be pissed that we put this over on her. I don't think so. I paid the fair price which, I'm sure, is something she would never have charged me.
