16. Try putting some sour cream into it!
This is my mom's secret ingredient, it doesn't take a lot to give it just the right tang to offset the mayo's heavy feel.

11. The welcome mat is out.
Here's the recipe for tuna salad:

12oz can water packed tuna - drained
15oz can cannellini beans - drained
Half cup sliced or diced mild red or white onions. I use two bunches of green onions
One cup diced cuke
3/4 cup sliced radishes
Half cup chopped parsley
4 tablespoons lemon juice or sherry vinegar
3 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and fresh grounded black pepper to taste
(I toss in some chopped celery and sweet pepper and a couple of tablespoons of capers. Nice thing about cold salads, you can fool around with them)

Mix them all up and add dressing.

Some fresh fruit, a bit of cheese, iced tea and a slice of French bread to sop up the dressing. Just the thing for a hot, humid afternoon lunch.

12. Are you making dinner at my house?
When it's too hot to cook I eat tuna/cannellini salad, tabbouleh, hummus, tomatoes with basil (sometimes fresh mozzarella mixed in too), three bean salad, green salads, lots of fruit, and iced tea or iced coffee.

15. Ice, ice, baby... I used to live in the desert, and we didn't use the kitchen

to cook dinner until 10:00pm, when the temp would drop down to 90 degrees. About half the time, we just ate out.

24. Yeah, here too. Roast beef, mashed potatos and gravy, some of us had
corn on the cob, those of us that like baked acorn squash had that, salad, and apple pie.

I have a demanding family. And it's Sunday. They expect Sunday dinner.

27. man, does that bring back memories acmavm...
Sunday dinners at my Grandmother's:

ALWAYS Roast Beef, Mashed taters, corn, string beans with onions, gravy, homemade bread, and big glasses of ice-cold milk. Followed by homemade vanilla ice-cream w/hershey's chocolate syrup.

And everybody sat at the kitchen dining table.

And my grandfather, a CDF Ranger, used to tear his bread into pieces and dip it into his milk.

Good times...

:D

etc....

If it's too hot to make potato salad at home, just buy some ready made from a deli.

28. Salads, cold soups.
Gazpacho and a vegan, tofu-based cucumber soup are two of my favorites.

Our kitchen is like an oven. We don't have an exhaust fan and there's really no ventilation in there, so it doesn't take much of a warm day to make that room really hot.

32. Nothing.
If it's too hot to cook, it's probably too hot to eat. Give me some iced tea instead!

For warm weather eats, I do like pasta salads, cold cuts sandwiches, cereal and milk, antipasto, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit (especially watermelon, blueberries, grapes, and peaches).

I could easily make a meal out of a pasta salad, fresh fruit salad, and a crusty roll.

33. Cold yogurt dishes. Kacik (cucumbers, salt & pepper) and raita (add tomatoes).
Or try almonds, diced cucumber, and raisins in plain yogurt.

Google "raita" for tons of Indian yogurt recipes. India has had good, cooling food for centuries without regrigeration!

Afterwards, relax with a mango or banana lhassi ... mmmmm cool.

38. I usually spend about an
hour making brownies on the weekend and I put them in air tight containers. When it gets really hot out and I don't want to do anything least of all cook (usually doesn't happen because I just take off a layer of clothing until I can stand the heat in the kitchen), I put a brownie in the microwave for a minute to get all gooey and then I put a big scoop of ice cream on it.
:9

Never said it was going to be healthy.
