Son of a gun. It's an anomaly.
My Clairol Son-of-Gun hair dryer is going on 29 or 30 years old and still get used daily. I am sure it was never designed to last that long. Anybody else have an old appliance that is still ticking after all these years.
:wow:

1. My mom has a can opener
that she got in 1972. It still works just fine, even after it was almost replaced 3 years ago by another one that didn't work as well.

2. My grandma gave me a Zenith TV for my 7th birthday
I used it, in one room or another, til I went away to college. Then my folks moved it into their bedroom for several years, and it's now the computer room TV in their house. I guess that means that in July it will have been going strong for 22 years, and never had a thing wrong with it.

3. My washer and dryer.
My clothes washer and dryer were both built in the mid 1970's.

Both are Maytag.

The washer is white, the dryer is...avocado green.
(Now you know why I keep that door shut.) :-)

Before I got them, they belonged to a family of 7.

4. My electric roaster.
I bought it at a flea market in Colorado about 13 years ago. It was old then. Its a white with black Westinghouse. Looks like 50's or early 60 color scheme. It still works and cooks a super moist turkey.

has a metal cabinet attached to the bottom. The roaster comes out for cleaning. Pretty cool.

5. My parents' washer and dryer too!
My grandparents bought them just before I was born -- same avocado green color, too! The dryer conked out about two years ago, but the washer is still working, 28-plus years later.

8. My wife has an appliance that is ancient, but since I am around
she does not have to use it very often.
Here's to hoping she does not need it for a long time.

9. A dishwasher or a refrigerator?
If you wash the dishes, the answer is "dishwasher." If you're a big eater, the answer is "refrigerator."

14. I'm still using a refrigerator bought at J C Penney's 25 years ago.
Haven't had a bit of trouble out of it. And Penney's hasn't sold appliances for years. It's dark brown. They haven't made that color since I don't know when.

11. My Wedgewood was built in 1937
and still cooks up a storm, a pre-depression RCA radio that is only used for baseball games (just sounds better for some reason), and a pre- WWII refrigerator that still works but sits unplugged in the basement because it's just too expensive to run compared to the new ones (and has a shoe-box size freezer which, when just defrosted, could hold a half-gallon of ice cream!).
