1. You lucky dog!
At my work cafeteria the line-up usually consists of the following. Chicken livers & rice day. Taco salad day. Chicken day. Hamburger steak day. Friday is ALWAYS fish of some type or spaghetti.
They usually have a choice of 4 vegetables, one of which is ALWAYS potatoes. They also ALWAYS have White beans or black eyed peas. They might throw out some corn or peas and if I am lucky some spinach. The bread choice is always cornbread (which is really good) or a biscuit.

2. Do you work in a prison?
Geez, what an unappetizing menu! And I thought the school cafeteria was boring! (Of course we don't get cornbread.... only "whole wheat" slices....)

3. Why is it always Fish on Fridays?
in the cafe?

Is there some automatic assumption from food service workers that the majority of their clientele are Catholic?

Something I've always wondered about.

6. I guess they do assume they have catholic customers.
There aren't too many around here in the Nashville area though.

8. It's never bothered me
In fact we now know eating fish a time or two a week is a good idea.

I've just always wondered why the Fish on Friday theme.

4. I work at an elite graduate school
during the school year our options look like this

In the "Food Court"
- salad bar
- sandwich station
- asian station
- sushi station
- pasta station
- panini station
- international table
- 1 soup and 1 chowder option

In the "Grille"
- pizza (plain, pepperoni, and 2 specialty)
- small salad bar
- 2 soups, a chowder and a chili
- taqueria
- burgers, dogs, chicken fingers
- baked pasta of the day
- frozen yogurt machine

During the summer the grille is closed and they do an outdoor bbq instead, so you can get a grilled burger, dog or special (usually some chicken or fish kabob) w/ potato salad or slaw, watermelon, and ice cream
