I lust for a Gibson SG or Les Paul, but have decided to simply reacquaint with
my 1981 Carvin DC 100:

1. I just wish I knew how to play the guitar
I would love to be able to just get out and play those great guitar solos from the '70s.

2. Me too, some of those solos at least.

But there's usually so much gratification in the basic or "rhythm" parts, I never get to the solos.

4. Yeah. Rhythm can be fun
I'm so glad they created Guitar Hero for those that don't know and don't have the time or money to learn.

3. I just paid off a long-lusted-after ES335.
Went with the Epi, as the Gibson cost 10x more for no discernible reason. Plays like a dream, sounds clear as a bell, every construction detail perfect save for a fissure in the varnish on the back of the neck. BFD.

Those early '80s Carvins are fantastic though, you could do way worse.

5. Gee, I want to see your guitars some day, if just to gawk.
Me, if I played straight for 20 years I doubt I could ever outgrow my current guitars.

6. Each one is beautiful and fatally flawed.
The flaw typically being the reason I could afford it. :patriot:

No kidding, this newly-acquired Epi is my first brand-new electric ever. I didn't get it because I outgrew any previous ones, though - nothing gets replaced, the totality gets supplemented. ;)
