1. I love them, though I never really got into Amputecture the way I did De-Loused or Frances.
One of my favourite bands though.

2. Really?
Edited on Mon Oct-01-07 04:10 PM by redqueen
I've tried to listen, but never could get more than a minute or so into a song. They were on the Rollins Show this weekend though so I really tried hard to listen to the whole thing.

I gave up after he pronounced 'sepulchre' with a 'ch' sound there at the end, instead of the hard 'c' sound. Started thinking maybe they're a joke band.

I don't get it!

3. De-Louse In The Comatorium is probably their most accessible album.

Their albums are generally the kind of albums you have to listen to as a whole, rather than individual songs. (Though Amputecture isn't really like that, which I think is one of the things that takes away from it.) Basically they take prog complexity (and often self-indulgent wankery) and throw in punk rock chaos. You might even want to check out Cedric and Omar's previous band, At The Drive-In, which was more of a straight up post-hardcore band. (And whom I like a little more, overall.)

I'm actually wearing a Mars Volta t-shirt right now. :P

4. I've heard a little ATDI, and from what I've heard
I'd say that's good advice. :)

I think Mars Volta may just be the most pretentious band I've ever heard! And coming from a prog fan, that's saying something! :P

5. They are popular around here
I think they fit in my "got to be in that mood" category.

7. I wanted to like them. I've tried to like them.
But really, I just wish they would stop.

8. Yes.
Same here. I have friends who like them, so I really have tried.

Sep-ul-cher was the last straw, though. :P

9. Do you think that they can do some more drugs?
Maybe they can get high enough to find some real music.

That's all a lot of random noise to me

10. I can hear the music in it...
I just don't think it's very good. :P

I do like noise bands though... Mogwai makes me... um... very happy. :)

11. They actually gave up drugs either just after or just before De-Loused.
They used to be fierce drug users.
