Aspies--I just saw my old friend Lianne Holiday Willey
this weekend.
I've been aware of her work for a while, and we even have emailed and talked on the phone from time to time. But I stayed at her mom's place for several days while an informal reunion of our HS/college circle transpired and I really got to reconnect with her. Lots of laughs and a few tears.
Anyhow, I know some folks here are aspies and I thought you might find this interesting as I think she is better known than I had understood prior.
On the other hand, I have co-presented with Dr. Temple Grandin (cue angelic choir) -- but it's not like I ever stayed at her Mom's house or anything! (the same hotel hardly counts :-) )
3. Now and again I present to autism conferences from the self-advocate's point of view
not as often as I used to now that I live 2,400 miles from anywhere. :-)
Years ago I did data entry and analysis for the Yale team that got Asperger's added to the DSM-IV manual. Later I ran the multimedia lab at a school in Manhattan that serves children with autism. Now I'm with a cross-disability nonprofit organization.
