Do you have any tattoos?
Edited on Mon Oct-01-07 07:22 PM by LostInAnomie
If so, what is it? Where is it? Where did you get it? Is there a cool story behind it?

I have none.

9. My fraternity letters...
From "Rocket Rick's" in Columbus GA (right near Ft. Benning). Fun and not-so-sober ride over from Auburn AL (though we did have a sober driver). Met a lot of military guys younger than me, and a lot less sober than me too, getting some huge ones put on their arms that night.

Tat's on the inside of my ankle.

No pics, though (except one where I also happen to be in deshabille...).

True story:
Robert Mitchum was busted for marijuana possession, and the booking sergeant asked him if he had any tattoos. "One," he said, pointing to a barely visible mark on his arm. "It's an obscene word too small to read."

In the order that I got them done.

I have a sun on my right shoulder that I got when I finished grad school.

I have the Crass (english anarcho punk band) symbol on my back left shoulder.

Chinese symbol for strength on my right calf

I have intertwining snakes on my left shoulder.

I have my daughter's initials in a scroll under the sun.

I have my son's initials in a scroll around a 5 card hand, each of the numbers of each of the 5 cards being his 5 card patient number on his band and the band we had to carry around when he was in the hospital for 5 months after being born.

I've been tempted to get one several times in the past, but I usually (fortunately) realize ahead of time that my tastes change too often and I'd end up stuck with something I'd hate a few years down the road.

big, burly biker guy, couple of missing teeth, just recently shaved off most of his hair so he's left with that mongol braid thing going on. Kinda scary if you don't know him. And he wants to get a butterfly, a fairie and a flower tattooed in somewhere, just so that when somebody tries to make fun of any of those for being 'girly', he can show them his. :)

I have the symbol for the band Fishbone on my right hip (that covered up my first tattoo, a plain and boring heart):

I have a band on my left ankle with sun, dolphin, stars, and flowers

I have a bonzai tree on my right shoulder.

I have a big piece on my center mid-back (about the size of a dinner plate) that is an Aztec design.

I have a star on both inner upper arms. I call them my superhero stars:

60. Oh, hell no!
I change my mind too often to commit to something like that.

I am fascinated by them though. Grandpa had a Polynesian girl on his arm, and could make her dance. My b/f has three, and would like more. One of my sisters has six.

I've designed them, drawn them, even assisted in giving one. But I can't make up my mind, and I'm quite sure that as soon as I do, I'll change it.

Saw a couple of excellent ones at the Benefit makeup counter... the sales girl. She had one of those voodoo, House of Blues style flaming hearts on her chest. Best damn tat I've ever seen! It looked painted on, she even rubbed it with makeup remover (had it handy at the counter) to prove it to me. Her second one was a skull, with full red lips, and Dorothy Lamour hair... complete with a big red hibiscus! Beautiful!!! Best ink ever!

62. Got my first when I was 37...

My husband and I both got our first tats for our anniversary about 8 years ago. The iris is one of my favorite flowers and I liked this artwork. Found out later that I may be allergic to some of the ink colors...possibly red. The purple on the iris took forever to heal and was very itchy. I really wanted another tat and one day it just hit me what I wanted.

It's a bracelet and doesn't go all the way around my wrist. I get a lot of compliments.
