I just saw a commercial that really grossed me out.
I like bacon, and I REALLY like a good cheesesteak.

But here's Sonic, advertising a bacon cheesesteak, and an extra long one at that.

Too much, even for me. How could they make it a worse coronary-in-a-wrapper? Serve it with a generous topping of lard?

Yuck.

1. My dear Redstone...
Sounds as though you have standards...

And that doesn't surprise me one little bit, either...

Nice to see you tonight!

2. That sounds really unpleasant (although I now have a craving for a dollop of lard)
The commercial that offended me on several levels recently was the Pizza Hut one where the mom is driving the kids home, and they're talking about how nervous they are that dad is cooking ('cause everyone knows that dad is a complete jackass just by virtue of being 'commercial dad,' right?) They get home, and dad is smirking proudly behind a table full of pizza boxes, asking "so who said I couldn't cook?" The kicker is the voiceover as they pan across 2 pizzas, cheese-bread, and a 2-liter Pepsi: "one phone call gets you a complete meal!" Complete!? WTF? :puke:

3. But that IS a complete meal! You got your dough food group, your
grease food group, your highly-modified-dairy-based-food-product food group, and, as a bonus, your caffeine and corn-syrup food group!

What more could you possibly need?

9. Then do NOT go to the Hardee's website. I forget the name, but they have
something even more revolting than BK's Triple Stacker.

11. Oh, Christ, I saw a commercial for that just last night. That wins, hands down, the
Disgusting Thing You Can Buy At A Fast-Food Place prize.

Maybe it's just because I don't eat sugary food?

Nah. It truly IS nauseating to any rational person...which means it should sell like hotcakes here in America, yes?

Edited on Tue Oct-02-07 10:37 PM by devilgrrl
the commercial features all these svelte attractive women suggestively eating this pre-packaged, thunder-thigh generating shit. Incredible!

15. But it's CHOCOLATE! Marketers can't hardly fail with chocolate. At least not
in America. Mrs R and I occasionally marvel at the fact that we're probably the only two Aericans who, together, eat exactly zero chocolate per year.

12. So, Sonic is not the first to consider adding bacon to a cheesesteak?
Jesus. I do, I really DO like me a big old fat-dripping cheesesteak hoagie (from Pudge's in East Norriton, PA)...but putting bacon on one is WAY over the top. Is that former regular customer of yours dead yet? If not, it's a miracle.

14. it was always at his request, it wasn't something we marketed
people would put bacon on the damnedest sandwiches

i don't know if he's still alive or not, i quit there several years ago

but i'm with you...there's nothing like a good cheesesteak, but bacon is just way too much

16. Long ago, when I managed a Hardee's
They offered the Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger. 1/3 pound of beef, with three strips of bacon, four slices of cheese, and onion mayonaise.

My heart hurts just thinking about it...

Now I like bacon a lot. I consider the BLT to be the World's Finest Sandwich

but cheese steak needs no enhancements

The dbl six dollar burger is a monstrosity; it has a huge bun, 2 half lb (weighed b4 cooking) patties cheese, onion, mayo, etc.

by not dropping it in hot lard.

Fuckers.
