I was reflecting on something this morning on my way into work.
The things I find myself appreciating most aren't big gestures of kindness, love and/or generosity but small ones the giver likely thinks nothing of. I really think the everyday, less showy gifts of one's time mean the most, or at least they do to me.

Does anybody else find that this is true or have a story to tell of an example that sticks out to them? I'm in the mood to hear those sorts of things this morning for some reason.

...

Oh, and while I'm at it, thank you to flvegan for texting me the election results for obscure California races he'd likely never heard of when I was stuck at work on election night '06. I don't think I ever told him how much I appreciated his taking the time to do that.

1. I appreciate common courtesy
that's why I love my little town, folks smile, let you merge into traffic, have a minute for a quick friendly chat at the grocery store or the line at the bank

I had forgotten what small town life is like and I am so glad I'm back!

:hi:

2. Those are the things I appreciate most about my SO
He does things like makes sure the frig is stocked with water for me. He sets up my breakfast fixings because I come home from work for my lunch break and would be rushed if it wasn't all ready to go. He makes sure the floor is vacuumed because I like to be barefoot in the house. Things like that.

As for me, I always make sure there are ice cubes in the bucket in the freezer for him. I always get him a book when I go to the library. I make sure his water bottles for work are filled.

Yeah, I like stuff like that. More thought goes into little things like that than big gestures (which are also nice). :hi:
