10. Moira Kelly
The Cutting Edge, Daybreak

I LOVE her, and she's done lots of TV (West Wing most notably), but in the '80s she was touted as the Next Big Movie Thing but never was.

"Toe pick!"

13. Agreed...
She was always reviewed well, but just somehow never went "all the way."

Lamberto Maggiorani in "The Bicycle Thief" - was not a professional actor, turned in a world-class performance, and appeared in a few other films but never became a star.

Keir Dullea - appeared in 72 films and TV shows, but would you call him a movie star? Can you name any film he was in besides "2001: A Space Odyssey?"

Linda Blair - appeared in 66 films and TV shows, but would you call her a movie star? Can you name any film she was in besides "The Exorcist?"

David Villalpando and Zaide Silvia Gutiérrez - both were brilliant in "El Norte" but never became stars.

Eli Wallach - was the real star of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," but Clint Eastwood became the "movie star" instead.

Duane Jones - Brilliant in "Night of the Living Dead" (1968) but appeared in only a tiny handful of low-budget horror films, despite being the first African-American to play the lead role in a horror film.

Henry Thomas - Superb work in "E.T." (1982) but mostly a string of forgettable films since.

19. I can name another film Linda Blair was in!
A horrible TV movie called "Sarah: Portrait of a Teen Alcoholic" and it was just as bad as its title.

The climax was when she stole a friend's horse in a drunken daze and rode out onto the highway where the horse got hit - complete with frame-by-frame shots of wild eyes in the dark, etc.

in The Fox. Brilliant editing in that movie. Had a couple of other actors seldom seen again, Sandy Dennis and Anne Heywood.

16. Nigel Terry as King Authur in 'Excalibur'
I thought he did a fine job going from young man to tired old king.

Funny, but 'Excalibur' featured unknowns Liam Neeson and Gabriel Byrne.

Pierce Brosnan auditioned for 'Excalibur' and was turned down. (from Boorman's commentary on 'Tailor of Panama' (which probably wouldn't get made without Brosnan saying 'yes'. LOL ))
