Anyone use soybean oil?

I read an article about a chef who uses it for fried chicken. He says it's there is far less grease and the chicken tastes better. I can't find it in our local grocery stores and before I contemplate buying it online I'm curious to know what others think of it.

1. most of the "vegetable oil" at conventional grocers is soy. check the label

Most of it is also GMO, so soy isn't my first choice for oil. They might have organic soy oil at a HFS.

I prefer sunflower or safflower oil for frying. High smoke points (better than soybean), no flavor.

An even better choice would be coconut oil. It also has a high smoke point, the saturated fats means it's very stable and won't make trans fats on you, and the smell as it heats up is wonderful.

3. For smoke points

The oils with the highest smoke points are refined safflower and avocado oils. Very, very light olive oil and clarified butter aren't too shabby either. Canola is probably the most widely available oil that has a high smoke point though.
