2. Blue Turtle Seduction!
Great band out of Lake Tahoe. Kind of gypsy, bluegrass with a blues harp kind of music.

http://www.blueturtleseduction.com/ I love the songs "Gov'mint" and "Peace In The Neighborhood".

3. Some new discoveries from this year
(I knew about Vanessa Carlton, Bruce Springsteen, The Pierces, and Brandi Carlile for example before)

Lucy Walsh
Kate Voegele
Alexa Wilkinson
Augie March
The Dollyrots
Angie Mattson
Jesca Hoop
The Affair
Against Me!
Rooney
Aly & AJ (highly recommend the new CD)
Mandy Moore (new one is her best, though the self-titled is also good)
They Might Be Giants
Adrienne Pierce
Katie Armiger
Taylor Swift
The Fratellis
Lynn Carey Saylor
Jag Star
Sloan
Lisa Mychols
Lavender Diamond
The Nightwatchman
Dean & Britta
The National
Georgie James
Tralala
The Clientele
Ben Lee
Detroit Cobras
The Sadies
Jesse Malin
Imperial Teen
Kyle Lardner

I'm stopping here, but I have found more.

My tastes lean towards classic rock, pop/rock, indie pop, and singer songwriter, but you can tell I give other styles a chance.

10. Carolyn Wonderland...A cross between Janis and Aretha....
And she plays guitar a whole bunch too. She should be a much bigger force in the music world right now.

4. Gogol Bordello
Weird (talking Kid A-era Radiohead weird), and catchy as hell. Super Taranta (their latest) is very high on my list of albums to get.

9. Not a band but a female singer
Yvette Lyon, She has a new album titled Everythings fine just fine, it's very easy on the ear. She's a Scottish singer and I can't find her stuff here but she has a my space page if anyone wants to hear her.

21. I like the sound of the Decembrists
Edited on Sat Oct-06-07 09:03 PM by tigereye
and I saw a great, poppy all-female Irish band called the Screaming Orphans not too long ago.

Churgilchin - more modernist Tuvan throat singers - are excellent.

None are "new" mostly new to me.

Oh, and the Noisettes! They remind me of all the best aspects of post-punk with an almost experimental quality, AND a singer who actually has an amazing voice.
