Woman With Service Dog Is Evicted From Home
DENVER, Colo. -- The state has filed a lawsuit against the landowners who allegedly evicted a woman because of her service dog.

Ellen Winans has been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder and depression and needs Shelby Nicholas, her border collie who is a registered service dog, as an emotional assistance animal.

The Colorado Civil Rights Commission filed its suit September. 25 against Ved Varma, the Ved Varma and Satya Varma living trusts, Varma Partnership and Sanjay Varma, saying Winans had been evicted because of complaints about her dog.

Winans declined comment and Ved Varma did not return calls seeking comment.
