My throat has been f'd up for 4 days now...
Sigh...I don't know what's wrong. It doesn't hurt so much as feel tight, scratchy, and generally uncomfortable. Drinking hot liquid makes it feel better, cold liquid doesn't seem to have much effect either way. I haven't been smoking more than normal. The air has been kinda dry until today, and the weather has been wacky.

Being the hypochondriac that I am, of course I assume that I'm gravely ill...But, this time I won't have a panic attack and rush to the ER thinking I'm dying. I'll just wait it out and hope it gets better soon.

8. Could be an allergy, baby.
They're pretty prevalent this year.

You take care, tho. OK?

Hope it passes soon.

9. bicentennial_baby!!!!!
I apologize for going totally off-topic here, but I saw your thread last night about making beef soup or stew. After you marinate the meat, do you brown it before you put it into the stew? (I'm making a beef stew with tons-o-veggies tomorrow night for CMW and his mom. HALP!)

I just fired up a white candle for your recovery -- and for no panic attacks. Good vibes, gf.

10. Yes!
I coat it in flour and brown it before putting it in the crockpot. :)

Thank you sweetie

11. eat something hot, spicy , preferably with lots of fresh ginger in it
gargle w/salt water
get a Neti Pot and flush the dickens out of your sinuses.

get some Claritin or generic equivalent thereof. (Costco house brand comes highly recommended by me and my allergy MD friend)This will help shut down the post nasal drip, which is irritating your throat.

hopefully you won't do like I did and have an opportunistic virus jump in behind your allergy storm and set you up for feeling like hell for a week.

there is a nasty URI running around down here that laid me low but I am better now.

hot tea with lemon and honey.

12. get a grapefruit
cut it up - rind and all - put in a quart of water - bring to boil

strain, squeeze out the grapefruit chunks - add honey or sugar to sweeten, drink it hot...

put rest in fridge, reheat/drink a couple times a day

helps irritated/sore throats even with laryngitis

14. Sounds like allergies...
I'm a hypochondriac too though so I'd probably be thinking I was gravely ill also.

17. You may be correct...
I looked up the local allergens levels for my city, and the mold has been high, and the weed has been moderate. I've never had allergies, but I know it can happen anytime in your life. Ugh.

Hi fellow hypo

15. I'm sorry, sweetie.
And I know the temptation to think it's something horrible, but dry air does the exact same thing to me. :pals:

16. Orange juice
Even though people now blab on about how many carbs orange juice has, I swear it helps sore throats. Maybe it's just the acid. If that doesn't work, try organic green tea with a little bit of fresh ginger root in the bottom of it...works every time! Hope you feel better soon!

I think it's the weather change, maybe allergies.
Hang in there.
