4. On the other hand, South Park had a great new episode
blending Tourette syndrome and Dateline's "To Catch a Predator."

Cartman was of course pretending to have Tourettes but the plan backfires on him when he starts sputing things he doesn't want to say.

Actually made a sensitive point when boy with real Tourettes explains how he's afraid to go anywhere in public for fear of embarrassment:

Thomas: Yee-you wanna know about fun? Going to public places knowing you're going to make a fool of yourself. Embarrass your parents (turns his head to the right) Aw shit! (recovers) My dad... finally couldn't take it anymore. He... divorced my mom, s-said he'd still be around, but I only see him at Christmastime now. S-sh-shit! S-sh-shit! The worst part is I know how lonely my mom is. A lot of times I know she'd be better off if I was dead.

6. I just watch Seasons 3-8 over and over
Homer's a loveable oaf, not an asshole; the show still revolves around the family; Maude Flanders is alive; the writers are talented.

It's like being in Eden.

7. The Simpsons misses more than it hits
I thought it "jumped the shark" with the Lisa dates Nelson episode (which was season 8, I believe). I remember that being the first Simpsons episode I watched that I was disappointed in.

I still occasionally watch the new episodes (I didn't see tonight's), but I haven't bothered to see the movie, which seemed to get good reviews, so maybe that'll be a Netflix rental when it comes out.

8. new episodes seem to have one or two one-liners
that are good for a chuckle, but more or less I agree with you. The movie itself was quite painful, though the Tom Hanks line made me laugh until I hurt.
