I'm on my first scotch of the evening.
The ex- has revamped his song list to include something about "gotta get you a woman". It sounds trivial but to this guy, everything has a secondary and indeed, a tertiary meaning. Even when it doesn't, which is why we're through.

Cheers to me. This is the Lisa of old, bitter, somewhat buzzed and really, really optimistic. :D

1. who cares what the ex does?
Keep that optimism.

My first girlfriend was a Lisa, maybe that's why I always liked your posts.

Probably it's the Lisa thing. :P

I care. I'm still in the throes of hideous rejection. You know, sorta.

4. It's much worse when you don't understand it
or if you wonder if it somehow should have worked. I'd take my guy back in two seconds if he wanted, but it won't work in the long run.

Lost, you are a fine woman, in every respect. If you've been rejected it's because the person you were with was not your destiny... s/he did not help you become the best you are meant to be. That's what I think, before I've poured my second and my third, and I believe more alcohol doesn't make me any wiser. Yet I drink on. :toast:

28. lost, if I may interject here, it seems like you're a good friend to crim son, with
good experiences to share, good advice to give, and good sympathies for those case when there's no advice.

Far be it from me to offer an opinion on two other people's relationships with one another, but it seems to me (since I've been the beneficiary of both you friendship and crim son's) that you guys would both benefit from getting to know one another better.

You're both peaches, is what I mean to say.

Yes, the pain is keeping me up again tonight and I'm rambling. But I detect kindred spirits with the two of you. And one of my most fervent hopes would be for people like the two of you (who have been such stalwart friends to me separately) to both be happy, especially if you can help one another to do so.

End of ramble. It's raining now, so I think I can go upstairs and let the sound of the rain on the skylights lull the pain from my mind.

On a completely different note: have you gotten yourself a bloody cane yet!?!??!!!?!???!

I hope the pain eases off. Take it easy and perhaps sink a couple of glasses of the tipple of your choice.

37. Actually, I have a genuine Irish Shillelagh on order. Stylish, yes?
I haven't, actually, been too awfully wobbly recently, but that time is indeed coming.

And, though it's inadvisable within current medical wisdom, the tipple has indeed been had.

42. Excellent! A shillelagh is is an excellent choice both for support and,...
...if the occasion merits it, the delivery of a sound whooping. My late father had one, but we had to take it off him in the end, because he kept threatening people with it.

Regarding medical wisdom, the fact that something like 75% doctors are alcoholics speaks volumes about the curative properties of liquor. Bastard medicos want to keep it all for themselves!

7. Well, we agree on about 25%.
He has a strictly lovesongs list on which I love everything except the - ugh - Rod Stewart. He played "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." No man has ever played that for me. But you know, musical taste isn't everything. The husband listened to Bach and other baroque and I thought he was god. He wasn't.

Hi. Twelve more drinks and I'd love to hear from you. :D

If Im reading this right, you need to make some drastic changes, and you need to make them NOW.

And you know I'm saying this as someone who will be your friend, even when all you other friends are gone.

Do not, repeat, NOT do this to yourself.

33. If I remember correctly, you did tell me about him. And the LAST person from whom
you need to request forgiveness is me.

I'm the one who accepts EVERYONE (and that includes YOU, kiddo) for EXACTLY who they are.

Do you remember that, from our previous conversations? I will talk to you, I will counsel you (if asked), but I will NOT judge you. Not ever.

I'm going to let you down right now, because I do really have to go to bed, but I wish I had the energy to keep talking with you here at DU or on the phone. I'm really sorry about that.

Some day, you need to come spend a weekend with me and Mrs R and Mrs R's Margaritas...I think her stories (in addition to the Margaritas) would do you a lot of good.

That wasn't an oversight; it's Maine and cold and we can't afford to heat until it's literally freezing. I have on red suede slippers with pompoms, black exercise pants, a pyjama top, a sweatshirt, another top and over that, a big green fleece my husband left when he moved out.

61. Meant that silly pumpkin and kid as a representation of life goes on
so it really doesn't matter anymore how the ex acts or chooses to do no matter how subliminal he thinks he's being.

You are so past that!

Am good. Substitute teaching, just had an interview to be a teacher of moderate to severely impaired kids, mostly autistic, and am in the middle of a design job for a living/dining room great space, with a follow up on kitchen reorganization. That job should net me about $200-400 on billable time (more if I do the overwash color change on the walls AND make the window treatments!) And, if I get the teaching position, will start out as a Step 3 on the pay scale, meaning a net take home of over $3K/month.

So, life is going OK for now.

How are you???? :loveya: :hi: :pals:
