Who comes to mind for you?
I'm trying to think of people who have money and/or connections which combine the following issues/industries - someone you respect in some way.

Who comes to mind for you when you think PHILANTHROPY + PUBLISHING (literary) + FILM/TV

Preferrably someone more off the radar and able to be contacted...someone more behind the scenes.

I've had an idea simmering for 10 years, one which requires collaborating with those who have solid connections in the above worlds, but I have no funds to do elaborate things to get the attention of "the powers that be" nor do I have existing connections.

It would be considered a social entrepreneur venture.

I've had people who, to me, are quite well connected tell me that this requires a huge media firm such as Warner Bros to pull off. The response I tend to get is, in essence, "this is too big for me (or my firm/agency) to consider, but it's worth pursuing".

I need someone with a foot in the door - any helpful door - who would share in a progressive vision involving philanthropy, publishing and film industries.

Any ideas are welcome and most appreciated! :hi:

1. just how "social" is the idea?
Call him a complete wackjob, but Larry Flint fights for 1st Amend issues.

I know that he is NOT what you had in mind, but depending on your idea, ya never know.

2. I probably don't know anyone useful to you.
I'm curious about your idea, only because I've been working on my own ten-year-old brilliant idea into a reality. It's a publishing venture that meets a social need and it has a strong viable market demographic, and I'm reaching the point where I need to sit down and crunch out the numbers for a business plan - and then I'm off to knock on doors asking for money.

So, if you want to share your idea around for some feedback, I'd be happy to hear it. I do work in publishing, btw, so I might be able to offer you some avenues for further research, if not any actual connections.

I think that anyone who says something requires a huge media firm in order to succeed is stuck in the very same box that we're told we're supposed to be thinking outside of.
