Ipod question
I have a question, and I know there are a lot of ipod fans here in the Lounge, so I was hoping someone here might have an answer for me.

Can I use a charger I got for a 3rd gen ipod with one of the new ipod classics, or do I need to buy a new charger? Like the docking station that plugs into the wall.

Thanks!

3. Yeah, they're basically just the old iPod with less of a glossy finish and $100 cheaper.
:P

2. Knowing Apple, you need to buy a new one and get your house re-wired.

5. Doubtful.
I think they discontinued the independent charger with the gen of iPod I bought (I think that was 4th or 5th, I don't know). I just plug mine into my computer to charge or use my speaker set (that acts as a charger, too).

7. Can you recommend a speaker set?
I was looking at them but I don't have any idea what to get.

10. Hell, I'm trying to remember the kind I have, and I'm blanking.
Alltec Lansing, I think it is, though I'm not sure of the spelling. They're a few years old, but still quite powerful and also small and portable. God knows if they make them anymore. I know JBL makes a whole line of speakers that can dock with an iPod. I'm not sure if they act as chargers, as well. They probably do, but I'd check on that.

6. My fiance has a nano
and his charger works with my (newer) 30-gig. Not sure if this info is helpful, because i haven't figured out the whole "generation" system... as far as i know, my iPod has not had any babies... ;-)

8. The new ones are 80 or 160 gigs
I think the 30 gig ones are the last group that came out. These just came out a few weeks ago.

13. I think possibly it will
Here is one from Amazaon (a wall charger) that seems to fit all of them. The key is what kind of connector it has. I just bought an Ipod classic myself and am looking for a wall charger, since it currently syncs with my desktop and i don't know what would happen if I plugged it into my laptop.

14. As long as your charger has a dock connector
Which I believe they started including on the 3rd Gen. You should be all good.
